FAQ
Q1: Why does the Samsung 20S have only 2000mAh capacity?
A: The Samsung 20S is engineered for maximum power output, not maximum runtime. Its 2000mAh capacity is a deliberate trade-off to achieve an incredible 30A continuous discharge. If you need longer runtime with moderate power, consider the Samsung 30Q (3000mAh/15A) or Sony VTC6 (3000mAh/20A). If you need maximum power, the 20S is the best choice.
Q2: How does Samsung 20S compare to Samsung 25R and 30Q?
A: The Samsung 20S has the highest continuous discharge (30A) but the lowest capacity (2000mAh). Choose the 20S for extreme power applications like mechanical mods and heavy power tools. Choose the 25R for a balance of power and capacity (20A/2500mAh). Choose the 30Q for longer runtime (15A/3000mAh).
| Model | Capacity | Continuous Discharge | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung 20S | 2000mAh | 30A | Extreme power (mechanical mods, heavy tools) |
| Samsung 25R | 2500mAh | 20A | High power (tools) |
| Samsung 30Q | 3000mAh | 15A | Balanced (flashlights) |
Q3: Does this battery have a protection circuit (PCB/BMS) built-in?
A: No. The Samsung 20S is an unprotected cell. It relies on the external device or a BMS (Battery Management System) to handle overcharge, over-discharge, and short-circuit protection.
Q4: What charger should I use?
A: Use a dedicated intelligent Li-Ion charger designed for 3.6V/4.2V cells. Ensure the charger supports the correct voltage for your specific pack setup (e.g., 1S charger for single cells, 2S charger for 2 cells in series, etc.).
Q5: How do I identify positive and negative terminals?
A: The flat top (the side with the Samsung logo and model number) is the Positive (+) terminal. The bottom (the side with the shiny metal casing and a slight indentation) is the Negative (-) terminal.
Q6: Is the Samsung 20S still a good battery in 2026?
A: Absolutely. The Samsung 20S remains one of the best choices for extreme high-drain applications in the 18650 format. Its 30A continuous discharge is still top-tier, and its reliability and safety are legendary. It continues to be a top choice for mechanical modders and power tool enthusiasts.
Q7: What are the advantages of buying a multi-pack?
A: Multi-packs offer significant cost savings compared to buying individual cells. They are perfect for DIY battery pack builders, small manufacturers, or heavy users who need a reliable supply of high-drain cells. They also ensure you have consistent cells from the same batch for balanced performance in your builds.
Q8: Which terminal type should I choose?
A: Choose Flat Top for standard spring-contact devices and spot-welding battery packs. Choose Button Top for devices with recessed battery compartments or spring-loaded contacts that require a protruding positive terminal.
Q9: How many batteries come in one pack?
A: This product is available in 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 pack options. Please select your desired quantity from the dropdown menu before adding to cart.
